Intersection for the Arts: Hiding In Plain Sight - A Solo Exhibition by Hasan Elahi.
Comment by AB: In 2002, Hasan Elahi was detained at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, subsequently falsely accused of being involved in the 9/11 terrorist plot, questioned dozens times by the FBI, given nine separate lie detector tests, and basically had his entire life turned inside out... only to find nothing but innocence. Closely surveilled during that time, Elahi eventually figured he could do it better, so beginning in late 2003, he commenced to surveil himself and publish all the findings, thereby saving US government agencies all kinds of time and $$. And he's continued ever since; the project remains ongoing. This exhibition constitutes a sampling of that-- multiple video monitors playing reams of the ultimate in mundane timed and dated on-location photographs, scrolling lists of his credit card charges, and the like. Certainly worth a perusal. Well done!
