San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery: Bring It Home - (Re)Locating Cultural Legacy Through the Body

Artists: Zeina Barakeh, Jeremiah Barber, Vic De La Rosa, Guillermo Gmez-Pea, Dana Harel, Carolyn Janssen, Summer Mei Ling Lee, Ranu Mukherjee, Ramekon O'Arwisters, Susan O'Malley, Tsherin Sherpa. Curated by Kevin B. Chen and Meg Shiffler.

Comment by AB: Grand opening of the newer bigger better awesomer SF Arts Commission exhibition space in the War Memorial Veterans Building on Van Ness. All kinds of great things to come at this impressive venue, I'm sure. Hats off to the City of San Francisco for dedicating such a marvelous venue to all art all the time. Go see.

Recology San Francisco Artist in Residence Exhibitions: Jeremiah Barber - Make Me Change Me; Alison Pebworth - Innards and Upwards, A San Francisco Wunderkammer; Robb Godshaw - Big-screen Debris

Comment by AB: Alison Pebworth's wall-length fantasy cabinet installation reveals treasures behind each of its multiple doors. This piece belongs in a museum. Not only is it Best of Show, but it's also best of pretty much everything I've seen in a while. Sometimes it's hard to believe that all art in all Recology shows is made with 100% materials scavenged from the trash, which makes them even better. Worth a visit on all three counts.
