    Ratio 3 Gallery: Slow Lightning.

Artists: Lutz Bacher, Torsten Lauschmann Paul Pfeiffer.

Comment by AB: Three videos, all worth viewing. Torsten Lauschmann superimposes a hand with wristwatch over a city street scene and runs the rather hypnotic results in a 12-hour loop, Paul Pfeiffer documents an unidentified individual curiously convulsing face down on a couch, and Lutz Bacher sequences time and date-stamped closed circuit video stills into a cryptic but compelling "animated" narrative.

Mina Dresden Gallery: Allegory - Judith Deim.

Review by RWM: Fascinating style. Interesting situations portrayed and people presented. One can involve oneself in these stories from other shores and times.

    BellJar: Hannah Stouffer - Myth.

Review by RWM: Dark tales presented here in black and white and with precision. Not quite cheerful in a macabre sort of way, but well executed and with shadowy subtext. No need to wait for Halloween.

Southern Exposure: On the Ground. Curated by Weston Teruya.

Artists: Taha Belal, Gaye Chan, Sofia Cordova, Sergio De La Torre, Malak Helmy, Juan Luna-Avin, Jerome Reyes, Rene Yung.

Comment by AB: You might call this one an art-umentary, an exhibition of installations having to do with how artists respond to, relate to, reflect back on, and generally perceive their local communities.

31 Rausch Street Gallery: Mark Luthringer - Account Control Technology / Office Park Heroes.

Comment by AB: Mark Luthringer documents boring, nondescript, unimaginative and just plain pathetic office park architecture, some of which is so lame, you'll be laughing through your tears.

Fifty24SF Gallery: One Man - Augustus Thompson.

Comment by AB: Augustus Thompson's animated brand of urban expressionism embraces the relentless character-- and characters-- of big city life.

FFDG (Fecal Face Dot Gallery): West, Wester, Westest. Curated by Ryan Travis Christian.

Artists: Carl Baratta, Timothy Bergstrom, Samantha Bittman, Ted Gahl, Rogelio Gamez, David Leggett, Shona Macdonald, Rachel Niffenegger, Paul Nudd, Marcie Oakes, Melissa Oresky, Tyson Reeder, Kate Ruggeri, Deb Sokolow, Scott Wolniak.

Comment by AB: FFDG throws up the inaugural show at their new location just a couple of doors down from Fifty24SF-- far preferred to the former Gough Street digs. So what's on the walls? A rather cacophonous klatch administered by Ryan Travis Christian consisting basically of artists he knows, most of whom hail from Chicago.

The old brick-on-a-pedestal ruse... or is it a sculpture of a brick? Hmmm...

Davies After Hours at the San Francisco Symphony: Rebecca Fox.

Comment by AB: Tonight's lively post-concert event features music by the Mark Inouye Jazz Quartet. Inouye is the SF Symphony's Principle Trumpet, and his jazz quartet is superb. The low-light setting is accented with sculptures by Rebecca Fox.
