1AM Gallery: BASK (aka Ales BASK Hostomsky) - Übermensch.

Comment by AB: Ales BASK Hostomsky enlists pop culture elements and recycled materials to comment on modern day life in urban America. Also on display is a selection of flyers that BASK hand-makes for his own shows (my personal favorites).

Center for Sex and Culture: Doing Your Dirty Work Two - A Sampler of Contemporary Art About Sex.

Artists: Artists: Andrea Fogt, Anna Maria Pinaka, Anna Zusman, Angus Henderson, Ariel Springfield, Audrey Schmidt, Carol Queen, Celso, Colette Standish, Cricket, Dan Bethune, Danny Beck, David Steinberg, Elizabeth Leger, Gabrielle Wilson-Sealy, George Dinhaupt, Jon Macy, JoJo Mendoco, Jose Kessler, Karen Thomas, Kerry Kelly, Lynn Colingham, Michael Biello, Oli Rodriguez, Phil Sayers, Rocky Angel, Scott Horsely, Shayna Why, Stephanie Ross, Suzanne Schifflett, Wendy Mukluk, Wesley Fanelli, Xxavier Carter.

Review by RWM: Wild. Strange. Funky. More fun usually to do than to look, but not necessarily. Some of these artists go to the wild side. All manner of work presented, but more fantastical and documentational than pornographic. You want a partner after looking at these. Unusual and kinky with strange bedmates on display. For the lazy lover, certain of these options might not be worth the effort, but the work presented here will surprise and for some, catalyze.

Comment by AB: Everyone's got their own unique set of preferences when sex time rolls around. This show proves that.

White Walls & Shooting Gallery: Unism and Unpire! - New Paintings by Niels 'Shoe' Meulman; I <3 LV; Cellar Door - Meryl Pataky.

Artists from I <3 LV: Greg Gossel, Apex, Ferris Plock, Word to Mother, Helen Bayly, Lauren Napolitano, Chad Hasegawa, Casey Gray, Charmaine Olivia, Nick Flatt, Benjamin Clarke, Sergio Garcia, Niels Shoe Meulman.

Comment by AB: In the front gallery and the left rear project room, Niels 'Shoe' Meulman shows his "Calligraffiti"-- classic calligraphy created by using graffiti techniques. He works with tools ranging from brushes to brooms to squeegees. No matter how large you need it, Meulman can do it-- flawlessly. In the rear gallery, a group show homages Louis Vuitton. In the right rear project room, Meryl Pataky uses neon in innovative ways.

Comment by AB: I'm told that Lost Bros is an artist collective numbering somewhere in the vicinity of thirty members. There's plenty of art to pick though here, but the diligent viewer will be rewarded.

Live Worms Gallery: Pachyderms and Pancakes.

Comment by AB: Employees of Tony's Pizza, a number of them transplants from Tucson, Arizona, whip themselves up a rollicking art show themed on elephants and pancakes. Pancakes cooked to order, plenty of fresh gourmet pizza, and a special guest art appearance by Jeremy Fish pep up the event.
