Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art: Becoming - Jud Bergeron; Scott Patt - Mumbo Jumbo.

Comment by AB: Jud Bergeron applies bright high-gloss automobile paints to resin in order to convey his tale of what it's like to become a parent. Scott Patt likewise goes glossy with resin on wood panels, his amoebic resin forms derived from recognizable shapes and symbols. Stop on by.

SF Camerawork: Johnna Arnold and Angela Buenning Filo.

Comment by AB: In/Finite Hut by Johnna Arnold is a large walk-in fabric pod with a 360-degree video of the great outdoors projected onto a circular screen in the center of the floor. I like it! Angela Buenning Filo asks residents of Palo Alto to photograph trees that hold meaning or significance for them, and then creates a walk-in installation centered on the images she received. Worth a visit.

San Francisco Supervisor Eric Mar at City Hall: Ryan Beavers - New Drawings.

Comment by AB: Ryan Beavers exalts the ordinary in a series of adeptly executed drawings of mundanities such as road cones, a section of a protective fence, and a defunct pay phone booth.

Fouladi Projects: Ensayos - Omar Chacon.

Comment by AB: Instead of applying paint with a brush, Omar Chacon drips and layers it into intricate compositional configurations on canvas and paper. It's an incredibly painstaking process, he tells me, but the resulting kaleidoscopic frolics are worth it. I mean... I'm in pinkie cam paradise! Check it out.

The Fleet Room at For Mason Center: Michael Madland.

Comment by AB: Michael Madland shows 40+ years of his art. He's made his living in other ways, but it's clear that art is an integral part of his life.
