    1AM Gallery: Diversion - JURNE.

Comment by AB: Meticulously cut wood and paper collages by Oakland artist JURNE are layered over a variety of backgrounds in order to heighten their effects. Of particular note are his roller coaster spates of stylized text. Several collaborative works with photographer Lea Bruno are also on display.

Recology Artist in Residence Program (Art at the Dump): Kristin Cammermeyer - DOUBLE HOW in & out the Back Room; Chad Hasegawa - Os Pukas; Port-au-Prince to San Francisco - Claudel Casseus, Romel Jean Pierre, Racine Polycarpe.

Comment by AB: In the front room of the main gallery building, this three-show fiesta kicks off with painting, sculpture and installation by Chad Hasegawa. He tells me that not only does he use 100% recycled paint, but that he has plenty left over to use in his future art-making endeavors. In the rear gallery, Kristin Cammermeyer constructs a towering assemblage installation with light, video and kinetic elements that practically devours the room. In the gallery down the street, Port-au-Prince, Haiti artists Claudel Casseus, Romel Jean Pierre and Racine Polycarpe school the class on how recycled materials art is done. From primitive effigies and sculptural assemblages to car tire carvings and incised 55-gallon drums lit from within, it's all impressive here. Go see all three.

Park Life: Amze Emmons - Close Wilderness.

Comment by AB: Philadelphia artist Amze Emmons combines elements of architecture, design, detritus, urban environment and degradation into otherworldly landscapes devoid of human life. Well done; check it out.
