John Pence Gallery: Randall Sexton; Zack Zdrale.

Comment by AB: Consummate figure paintings by Zack Zdrale in the center gallery often wax perplexing. In the rear gallery, Randall Sexton's fresh impressionist palette encompasses mountain and canyon landscapes, vintage cityscapes, industrial scenes and an occasional genre painting.

ArtHaus Gallery: Carolyn Meyer - Metropolis.

Review by RWM: Grey cityscapes, occasionally morose. One may miss the blue skies. These cities are sometimes on fire with fierce accents of red. Nice use of paint and canvas for images which are deeply affecting. People have a chance here to get out into the rain, but the experience is somber at times.

111 Minna Gallery: Astronomical Menagerie - Alec Huxley.

Review by RWM: Wild group of astronomical people with all sorts of narratives and dramas. Fun show even with the nighttime lighting. Cool images which one will find captivating.

Comment by AB: Anonymous space-helmeted humans coexist with beasts smack dab in the middle of the city. Do you like your art wild, outrageous, inconceivable and foreboding? Then you'll love this.

Canessa Gallery: Buzz Owen - Worldwide Abalone; Miriam Owen - Figurative Driftwood Sculpture.

Comment by AB: Buzz and Miriam Owen have been together forty years, so that explains the collaboration here. Abalone authority Buzz shows shells of different abalone species alongside Mariam's quirky driftwood creature sculptures.
