5 Claude Lane Gallery: Life and Times, Photographic Works and Assemblages - Brett Kaufman.

Review by RWM: Brett Kaufman presents the biopic in static form recounting the lives of the famous, offering up artful perspectives on their existences. Wondrous exploration here for those who wish to better understand who these people were and how they made their marks. Fascinating iconography.

Crown Point Press: Sharing a Vision - The Colby College Museum of Art and Crown Point Press.

Artists: Robert Bechtle, Rackstraw Downes, Jane Freilicher, Yvonne Jacquette, Alex Katz, Sherrie Levine, Sol LeWitt, Kiki Smith.

Comment by AB: Paintings by eight artists from the collection of the Colby College Museum of Art are paired with etchings by those artists made at Crown Point Press. It's precisely that simple and no more complicated. Good stuff; worth a look.

941 Geary Gallery: 60/30 - New Work from Blek le Rat.

Review by Mairead O'Connor: Blek Le Rat is a street art legend. He is considered to be the first major stencil artist and has worked all over the world. He is an extremely influential figure in the history of street art and this opening at 941 Geary gallery is an historic event.

Comment by AB: Here's the latest from "the Godfather of stencil art." Blek le Rat celebrates 30 years of continuous artistic activity, both indoors and out, with an impressive offering of oversized portraits stencilled against abstract backgrounds, all of which reference seminal events and influences in the artist's life. Check it out.
