Hatch Gallery: Textie Textie by Gaby Wolodarski.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: Ideas sprawl across the canvas with the same truncated speed as an internet-addled mind. Painterly swashes of color course behind abrupt pop culture imagery, words and symbols crowded into the confines of these surreal paintings. All the energized half-thoughts and aimless images we see every day have been reconfigured into Gaby Wolodarski's latest collection, which echoes the Neo-Expressionist basic urges of automatic auto-reflection. The effect is immediately arresting and ultimately relatable.

Chandra Cerrito Contemporary: Kagami by Kana Tanaka.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: The majesty of a rainy day is captured in Kana Tanaka's show of ethereal works. Calming and cool, this series has an air of the transcendental around the edges.

Mama Buzz Gallery: Art by Ashley Jones, Yarra McClure and Mandy Lockwood.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: This series of paintings that touch on so many aspects of every day life showcases the work of three artists who get it right. While their styles differ and subject matters vary, these three unique perspectives coalesce nicely on levels of beauty and substance.

    21 Grand Gallery: Intersection.

Artists: Tina Dillman, Naaman Rosen, Vanessa Woods, Josh Smith.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: "Intersection" focuses on the collaborative efforts of two couples whose work reflects "a point at which marriage and art-making converge." On one side, a geometric study of industrial shapes and the abstraction within everyday objects. On the other side, a more linear storytelling technique with vintage-appeal photographs, complete with small books with short stories. Charming and romantic.

Johansson Projects: The Velveteen Order by Keer Tanchak and Christina Corfield.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: "The Velveteen Order" takes childhood fantasy and turns it into adult-sized art. Drawing on an imagination full of English gardens and princesses, the paintings offer charming portraits in an unpolished childlike style. A large set has been erected where a movie featuring another princess at play with a Unicorn. This is the type of show that brings a smile to your face and memories of long gone playtimes and fairy tales.

Rock Paper Scissors Collective: Textile Show.

Artists: Aline Dargie, Jen May, Caitlin Sweet, Bunnie Reiss, Kate Narkter, Kathy Canton.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: The richness of textiles is revealed in Rock Paper Scissors' Textile Show. Huge knits and bulging fabrics, salvage monsters and woven trash adorn the gallery, all paying tribute to the creativity of fabrics, yarns and cloth.

Oakopolis Gallery: Refashioned - The Origins of Our Clothing.

Artists: Angelina Deantonis, Sasha Duerr, India Flint, Cassidy Hope Wright, Cory Gunter Brown.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: A series of naturally dyed fabrics adorn the walls of the hallway leading to the gallery, the coffee-dyed silks and orange colored cottons giving a taste of what was to come. Within the gallery, expertly crafted clothing created in an environmentally conscious manner populates the walls. Majestic clothing for a modern day Alice in Wonderland.

    Krowswork Gallery: Time(Lapse).

Artists: Drone Dungeon, Katja Mater, Kim Miskowicz, Liena Vayzman.

Review and images by Pilar Vree: Two videos play in mini-theaters within the gallery among art that speaks of decomposition and decay. Krowswork's latest show is a great tribute to the impact of time on the world around us.
