Gallery Paule Anglim: Robert Stone; Jerome Caja.

Review by RWM: Amazing abstract paintings by Robert Stone which despite their absence of color have texture, presence and dimension. Interesting to study the structures on the canvas. The black shapes constructed out of pigment make for a powerful encounter.

Comment by AB: I have no idea how Robert Stone creates these amazing perfectly precise geometric abstracts. And you know what that means, don't you? Yep. Robert Stone is hereby bequeathed the rare and highly coveted "How Do Dey Do Dat?" award. In the rear gallery, you can't help but wonder what went on in Jerome Caja's mind while he was making his art (or at any other time, for that matter).

Leica Gallery: Renato D'Agostin - The Beautiful Cliché.

Comment by AB: Enticing indeterminate abstract/representational blends by Renato D'Agostin allow ample latitude for viewers to postulate as to possible interpretations or narratives.

Headlands Center for the Arts: First Look.

Artists: Jacolby Satterwhite, Bonnie Begusch, Nate Boyce, Desirée Holman, Sandra Ono, Ying Zhu, Janelle Iglesias.

Comment by AB: I take a quick bop over to Headlands Center for the Arts to check out a reception introducing the 2015 Artist In Residence awardees, peruse new installations by past resident artists, and listen to several former residents talk about their current creative lives.

SOMArts Gallery: Place/Displaced. Curated by Melorra Green

Artists: Ako Jacintho, Sergio De La Torre, Jewels Smith, Cynthia Tom, Cris Matos, Kristine Mays, Michael Ross, senseofplace LAB, Rodney Ewing, Joanne Ludwig, 2AM, Ron Moultrie Saunders, William Rhodes, Karen Seneferu, Nick Gomez, Clark Suprynowicz, Nina Fabunmi, Mark Harris, more.

Comment by AB: SOMArts partners with Bayview Opera House to present art and installations around the current plague of Ellis Act evictions, skyrocketing rents, rising costs of living, gentrification, and the radical change in the make-up of San Francisco's population. Worth seeing... and thinking about.
